In response to the COVID-19 pandemic Rianda House is closed, although we are now providing virtual classes, conferences calls, and one-on-one chats to keep participants safe and connected.  All classes are FREE, offered via Zoom video conferencing, and require pre-registration. Rianda House Classes

NEW 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s | Lauren Hibdon, Alzheimer’s Association
This education program will help you recognize common signs of the disease in yourself and others. You will also learn the next steps to take, including how to talk to your doctor. Wednesday, June 9, 1:00 pm.

NEW Understanding Dementia | Lauren Hibdon, Alzheimer’s Association
Did you know there are many types of dementia, and Alzheimer’s is just one type? Learn the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, stages, risks, research and FDA-approved treatments. Wednesday, June 23, 1:00 pm.

Heart of the Matter I Dr. Lisa Hinz
Join us for a group experience where we will share ideas and life experiences around topics of interest. Group leaders will curate topics relevant to our current life experiences and encourage safe and respectful sharing of ideas. Tuesdays, June 8 & 22, 1 - 2 pm.

Imagery and Poetry I Dr. Lisa Hinz
Poetry is often inspired by imagery. Figures, structures or other forms frequently inspire metaphorical connections that underlie poetry. Creating a collage will be the foundation for poetry. No artistic or poetic experience required to enjoy this class. Fridays, June 11 & 25, 1:00 pm.

Mind Boosters & Brain Fitness I Veronna Ladd, Collabria Care
These two popular programs have been combined and tailored for people who want to be proactive in maintaining brain health, are concerned about memory, or are in the early stages of memory loss. Why Attend? It's FUN! and You LEARN! 2nd/4th Thursdays, June 10 & 24, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.

Zoom to the Future I Rianda House Instructors
Curious how to attend a class, virtually? This class is for you! Learn the basic tips and tricks on how to use Zoom to attend classes, workshops and events. Monday, June 21, 2:00 pm. Attend once or continue weekly to build skills. Pre-registration required.

NEW Calistoga Lunch & Learn: Drive-Thru I Rianda House, UV Family Center & Calistoga Parks & Rec
This popular monthly educational event has been running for 7+ years! It features a theme, delicious food, connection with community members and timely resources. This month – COVID safety protocols permitting - we will meet at Pioneer Park, 1308 Cedar Street, Calistoga for a summer BBQ and activities. 3rd Wednesday of each month. June 16, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Embodied Ease – Zoom Edition I Marla Tofle, Somatic Coaching & Healing
Join this playful, enlivening and restorative class using movement, breath and sound to reconnect us with the engine of our well-being: pulsation. Embodiment practices support immune system function as well as improve our body's inherent resiliency. Open to all abilities. Fridays, 10:30 am.

Join this lively writing community. No matter your writing experience, you're welcome to share your voice as we write, read and offer feedback. Class meets for 6 weeks on Thursdays, May 6 - June 10, 2:00 - 4:00 pm.

PWR!Moves for Parkinson's - Zoom Edition I Joan Comendant, Certified Trainer
Course is designed for individuals with Parkinson's, Essential Tremor or balance issues to help increase strength, flexibility, coordination, balance and posture. Wednesdays, 1 pm.

Rianda House Readers' Theater Group – Zoom Edition I Dianne Fraser and Carol Gruetzner
Participate with a fun lively group reading scripts together each week. No memorization necessary. Tuesdays, 3:00 pm.

Strength Training – Zoom Edition I Kathy Carrick
Enhance muscle strength and tone - all levels welcome. $5 donation, per workout, suggested. Class held via Zoom. Call Elizabeth for a video conferencing link. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00 - 9:00 am.

Tai Chi - Weekly Zoom Series I Joan Comendant (Certified Tai Chi Instructor)

  • Dancing Crane: Designed for beginners who are new to Tai Chi. Each class will repeat the same movements, making it an ideal class to drop into anytime. Beginner Level. Tuesdays, 11:30 am.
  • Chen 18: One of the oldest traditional styles of Tai Chi, is characterized by fast and slow motions with bursts of power. Intermediate Level. Fridays, 12:30 pm.
  • Tai Chi: combination of slow meditative movements that aid relaxation, balance, stress reduction and posture. An effective gentle total-body workout. Advanced Level. Tues., 10:30 am. No class June 29.

NEW Zumba Gold Exercise Class – Zoom Edition I Becky Jo Peterson
Shake it at your own pace. Join the party and put on your best dance moves and get our hearts pumping to improve balance and stamina and tone important muscles. Exercise class for all who like to move to music and have fun! Class on Zoom. Wed., 10:30 am. No class on June 9 or 16.
