- HAPI RIDES – are back!!
Effective August 1, 2011, the Area Agency on Aging will be connecting individuals with rides to essential appointments who meet the following criteria:
- Are age 60 or over
- Do not or are unable to drive
- Live in rural areas or isolated neighborhood/setting
- Cannot feasibly use other transportation options
- Are low income (up to 200% of the federal poverty level)
- Income after expenses is low or undependable
- Are missing essential appointments such as medical/dental because they were not able to pay or arrange for transportation.
The established criteria are going to be strictly adhered to so as to better serve those with the greatest need. There are many current transportation options that are current available therefore, in order to qualify, an individual must have exhausted all other options.

HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program) provides free and objective information and counseling about Medicare. Volunteer counselors can help you understand your specific rights and health care options.
One hour counseling appointments offered at Rianda House on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month between 1 – 4 pm. Call HICAP to make your appointment.
