Rianda House Lunch Bunch

Monday, Tuesdays and Fridays - noon to 1:00 pm
Rianda House is the upper valley host site for Senior Nutrition of Napa Valley's well loved Meals On Wheels program.


Enjoy a nutritious meal in a welcoming social setting 3 days a week. Cost: $2.00 suggested donation for 60+ and $5.50 for folks under 60. Reservations are required: call before 2 pm the day prior to your meal (M - F) 707-253-6111

Caregiver Consultations & Memory Screenings
with Napa Hospice & Adult Day Services
1st Wednesday of the month. Wednesday May 1st


One hour appointments between 11:30 am - 1:00 pm.
Meet with a Medical Social Worker, for a confidential individual or family consultation. Discuss care giving challenges, receive support and guidance about memory loss or loss of independence/driving, schedule a memory screening and connect with local resources.

Support Group for Caregivers of Persons with Memory Loss
1st Thursday each month 3:00 - 4:30 pm. May 2nd.

This support group is designed specifically for persons who care for family members or others with memory loss due to Alzheimer's Disease or other related dementia. Drop-ins welcome.

FREE Weekly Counseling Sessions for Local Seniors
with Family Service of Napa Valley

Finding the "Golden Years" a bit tarnished? We all plan to age gracefully, but sometimes real life gets in the way. Often all we need is an understanding listener to help us through a rough patch or a down time.

If you are looking for help to bring back some balance in your life, Napa Valley Family Services is offering free counseling for Seniors.

The hour long, weekly, individual sessions with a licensed professional therapist are confidential.

Medicare Benefits & Insurance Counseling Sessions
with HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program)
2nd & 4th Tuesdays of every month:
This month May 14th and May 28th
One hour appointments between 1:00 - 4:00 pm.
HICAP
offers one-on-one guidance in a one hour private consultation from a trained Counselor in the Medicare and MediCal systems. Counselors do not recommend, endorse or sell private health insurance plans.

STOPFALLS of Napa Valley -
Fall Prevention Program
Friday, May 24th 11:00 am to Noon
SFNV is the falls prevention program of the Area Agency on Aging designed for community-dwelling Seniors & disabled in Napa County. It addresses the serious health issue of falls through education and direct service. The educational presentation goes over the risk factors for falls, how you can minimize these factors and thereby decrease your risk for falls. (Flyer here)

AARP Safe Driving Refresher Course
Thursday, May 30th, 9 am - 1:30 pm
This 4-hour class is DMV approved and developed by AARP as a course review for persons who have taken the full 8-hour course within the last 3 years. The purpose of this class is to instruct seniors in safe driving techniques to compensate for the aging process for drivers age 55 and older. Pre-enrollment and pre-payment is required by 5/24. AARP fee: $15 for AARP members / $17 for non-members. (Flyer here)

SILVER - A State of Mind

Wednesday, May 1st, 5:30 pm
with Photographer Vicki Topaz and
a panel of local "Silvers"

This very special evening will explore a subject fascinating to men and women alike - the joys and challenges of living with silver hair. Besides a video show of Vicki's dramatic photos, a panel of local "Silvers" will speak from the heart about living with silver hair and take questions from the audience.

Enjoy an evening of exquisite art, open dialog, laughter, appetizers & wine. Copies of Vicki's DVD of photo portraits will be on sale following the presentation. Suggested Donation of $5. (Flyer here)

Making Your Mind Magnificent

with author and speaker Steven Campbell

Join us for this extraordinary opportunity to learn several simple techniques (like flipping negatives) from Steven Campbell that will enrich your thinking and make your mind a superior mentor during any situation. Steven can teach you how your brain works and how to make it your greatest champion for learning, growing and changing.

Yoga Instructor Ann Innes is beginning a new yoga class featuring the MELT Method (as seen on Dr. Oz Show) for hands & feet along with balance & chair stretching. Working with the connective tissues, this class is designed to help you find your center of gravity and to decrease arthritis and inflammation.

Weekly sessions
This interactive weekly workout program is for anyone who wants to be proactive in maintaining their brain health. Jill Wood, Brain Fitness & Memory specialist from NV Adult Day Services, will teach tips for memory enhancement that are innovative, fun, and reflect the latest in brain science. Suggested fee: $5 per workout.

On the 4th Wednesday of each month, the Brain Fitness Workout
class is replaced by the FOOD and MIND class at 11:30 am (see below).

This class concentrates on poetry and short stories. Bring 15 copies of your work to be shared and critiqued. We are serious, honest and constructive about our work and have lots of FUN!

Spring Session runs from January 4th - June 7th. Fee: $60
This is a very enthusiastic bunch who have lively debates about current events in a safe and nonjudgmental setting. Henry Michalski leads this discussion group where all sides of current issues can be explored and discussed. There is still room in this class for you to drop in and get acquainted with others. You'll really enjoy these spirited classes! Bring a topic you want to discuss! $5 donation per class suggested.
